Water Softener Salt Delivery – A Back-Saving Service

Cartoon of a caveman with a sore back, using a large bone as a caneThe thought of dealing with large, heavy bags of salt is one of the things that stops many homeowners from buying a conventional salt water softener, and drives people toward no salt water softener systems. However, if this is the only thing preventing you from taking action on your hard water problem, there’s a simple solution. Water softener salt delivery is offered by many local service companies throughout the country.

Water Softener Service at Your Doorstep

You can find water service companies in just about any city or town, and the ones that are worth their salt offer water softener salt delivery for both homes and businesses. The most well-known provider is probably Culligan, which has a local “Culligan Man” in over 800 locations worldwide. However, you may find small businesses in your area as well that offer this service, so don’t be afraid to shop around.

Delivery can either mean dropping the salt off on your doorstep, or adding the salt to your softener for you. Doorstep delivery is often more convenient because you don’t have to be home when the delivery person comes. Full installation usually costs a bit more, but is ideal if you know you’re going to be at home.

The price of this service can vary quite a bit by location, but you might be surprised at how affordable it is. Remember that the service provider is not only making money from the delivery, but from selling you the salt (in some cases their own brand of salt). In other words, they may offer the service cheaply in order to get you “locked in” to buying your salt exclusively from them.

Help with Water Softener Maintenance

Water softener service providers may also offer to clean your system for an additional fee. Oftentimes, they can also check to make sure the system is running properly. Because they’re making regular visits, they’re in a good position to head off potential problems with your system. And they’re usually glad to do it, too, because they know you are likely to turn to them for repairs.

Of course, whether you want to go beyond simple salt delivery into full service is up to you. Most water softener maintenance can be done by an amateur (provided he or she reads the system manual carefully). It just depends on whether you want to take the time to do it – and whether you’re willing to pay the extra cost to have someone do it for you.

Water Softener Salt Delivery – Summing it Up

Water softener salt delivery is a great option for people who don’t want to buy and transport back-breaking sacks of sodium or potassium chloride. A local water softener service provider may also be able to perform routine maintenance for you, so you have to worry even less about your salt based water softener. There are still plenty of other reasons why you might choose an alternative to a salt water softener, but managing your own salt supply doesn’t have to be one of them.
